Turmeric Tonic: My Favorite Anti-Inflammatory Recipe for Autoimmune Health

One of the questions I get asked most often is:

"Dr. Z... what's that turmeric drink you're always talking about?"

So today I'm finally sharing it.

This Turmeric Tonic has been one of my favorite staples for years. It's simple, inexpensive, and made with ingredients that many of us already have in our kitchen.

As someone who healed from Lupus naturally over 13 years ago, I truly believe food can be one of our greatest forms of medicine. While no single food or recipe is a cure, the small choices we make every day add up over time.

This tonic is one of those simple daily habits that I always come back to.

I often reach for it when I want to support my:

• Immune system
• Digestion
• Inflammation
• Energy
• Recovery after exercise
• Seasonal wellness
• Hormones and overall health

The effects are cumulative, which means consistency matters more than perfection.

Turmeric Tonic Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

• 1 teaspoon ginger powder

• 1 teaspoon Himalayan salt

• 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

• 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

• 1 teaspoon black pepper or a pinch of cayenne pepper

• 8 ounces warm or hot water

Add cinnamon for extra hormone and weight loss support

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a large mug, mason jar, or shaker bottle.

Mix or shake well.

You can enjoy it warm like a tea or drink it throughout the day.

Use high-quality organic ingredients whenever possible.

I love making a larger batch so it's ready whenever I need it.

I drink a small shot before each meal to balance my blood sugar and improve digestion.

Adjust the ingredients to your taste. I almost never measure exactly.

I usually eyeball everything and make it work for me.

Why These Ingredients?

Turmeric has been traditionally used to support healthy inflammatory processes.

Ginger is one of my favorite herbs for warming digestion and supporting healthy circulation.

Apple cider vinegar can help support digestion for some people and gives this drink its tangy flavor.

Black pepper helps improve the absorption of curcumin, one of turmeric's most studied compounds.

Himalayan salt provides trace minerals while supporting hydration.

Together, they create a simple tonic that supports the body in multiple ways.

My Rhythm Reset Tip

Healing doesn't happen from one perfect meal.

It happens from the little things we choose consistently.

One nourishing drink.

One healthy meal.

One walk.

One deep breath.

One good night's sleep.

Those small moments become your healing rhythm.

Research

Research suggests that curcumin, the primary active compound in turmeric, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may support overall health.

Black pepper significantly improves curcumin absorption.

Ginger has also been widely studied for its digestive and anti-inflammatory effects.
